It's an all-South American showdown in the second semi-final of the 2025 U20 World Cup as Argentina lock horns with Colombia on Wednesday.

Colombia, on the other hand, have shown grit and resilience to make it this far. After finishing atop Group F with five points, they eked out back-to-back knockout wins against South Africa (3-1) and Spain (3-2). 

Los Cafeteros have quietly built an impressive unbeaten run of nine matches (W5, D4), showing a knack for grinding out results. While their recent knockout clashes have been goal-fests, much of their campaign has been defined by disciplined, hard-nosed football.

Argentina will have to make do without three key figures for this clash — Maher Carrizo is sidelined after picking up one too many yellow cards, while Álvaro Montoro suffered a fractured clavicle in the bruising win over Nigeria. Adding to the headache, Valente Pierani is also ruled out with a knee sprain.

In their absence, Juan Manuel Villalba slots in for Pierani, with either Ian Subiabre or Santino Andino expected to fill Carrizo's boots. Gianluca Prestianni gets the nod to start in Montoro's place.
