Miami Marlins vs. Milwaukee Brewers Team News

Miami Marlins

On the mound, the Marlins have been plagued by injuries, with pitchers Edward Cabrera (right shoulder), Sandy Alcantara (Tommy John), and Eury Perez (UCL rupture) all sidelined for long stretches due to arm issues. Alcantara and Perez are both out for the season, with Cabrera scheduled to return in June.

Young southpaw Ryan Weathers will be on pitching duty for the Miami Marlins and he has been doing faring well during his first nine starts. He is currently 2-4 with a 3.81 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP in 49.2 innings of work.

Bryan De La Cruz has been one of the very bright spots for the Marlins this season. He's hitting .260/.308/.448 and leads the team with nine homers, nine doubles, 25 RBIs, and 26 runs scored in 48 games this season.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers are contending with several injuries to key players. Center outfielder Garrett Mitchell and pitcher Jakob Junis are both on the 60-day IL. First baseman Rhys Hoskins is on the 10-day IL and is anticipated to return later this week.

Pitcher DL Hall is on the 15-day IL. Outfielder Joey Wiemer is also on the 10-day IL, but could be back in time for Game 1 here.

Joe Ross, a right-handed pitcher, will take the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers. He is 2-4 with a 4.61 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP in 41.0 innings during his first eight starts.

Ross is coming off a five-inning victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, in which he allowed two runs on two hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.
