    WHAT MENDY SAID

Mendy, as a native of The Gambia that spent time in Spain before heading to the United Kingdom, has told the Men in Blazers podcast of how he has handled becoming a star of the small screen: “I’m definitely not born for it! English is not my first language, it’s not even my second language. I struggle a lot when I try to express myself and I panic a little bit. I’m trying to get used to it, but that is definitely something that I will try to work on.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

While life in the spotlight has taken some getting used to, Mendy is delighted to part of a project under Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney that he considers to be the “most beautiful” in British football. He added: “I knew what Rob and Ryan were trying to do, but you don’t really know until you see it with your own eyes and until you experience it, sign for Wrexham and see what’s happening in and around the club and the whole town. What they are doing is amazing. It is great to play for not just the town, but the whole country. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to sign. The project that is happening at Wrexham is amazing and, I think, is the most beautiful right now in football. I definitely wanted to be a part of it.”
