La Roja are continental kings once again after seeing off England 2-1 in a dramatic European Championship final. Cucurella starred for Spain throughout that tournament, with early questions of his value being answered in style.

Cucurella was happy to take centre stage during a wild celebration event in Madrid, as he took the microphone and serenaded those in attendance. To the tune of a terrace chant that has followed him from Brighton to Chelsea, the 25-year-old left-back said: “Cucu cucu-rella, he eats paella, Cucu cucu-rella he drinks Estrella, Haaland you’d better tremble because Cucurella is coming!”

Ex-England international Gary Neville was among those to suggest that Cucurella may be a weak link in the Spanish side, claiming that it was difficult to see them “going all the way” with the Chelsea star in defence. Cucurella responded to that jibe after collecting the ultimate prize by saying: “We went all the way Gary. Thanks for your support.”

Cucurella will now get to enjoy a well-earned break after helping Spain to make history as four-time champions of Europe. After recharging his batteries, a return to pre-season training at Chelsea will be made ahead of their 2024-25 season opener against Haaland and title holders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on August 18.
