- Tottenham sign Solanke for £65m
- Club record buy for Spurs
- Bournemouth's most expensive sale
WHAT HAPPENED?
After being linked with a move for the Cherries forward, Spurs have officially got their man. The club state the 26-year-old has signed on a deal until 2030, and could make his club debut against Leicester City later this month.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Prior to this deal, Tanguy Ndombele's £55.5m transfer from Lyon in 2019 was their most expensive purchase but Solanke's arrival eclipses that. This is also Bournemouth's most expensive sale, topping the £41m ($52m) transfer of Nathan Ake to Manchester City in 2020. While manager Ange Postecoglou said Spurs will "never" replace Harry Kane, they will hope Solanke can be just as prolific in front of goal for them.
DID YOU KNOW?
One-time England international Solanke scored 21 goals and bagged four assists for Bournemouth last season. The forward began his career at Chelsea but struggled to make an impact there. A 2017 move to Liverpool didn't bear much fruit but he was able to rebuild his career at the Cherries.
