  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Amorim has had the upper hand against Guardiola's Manchester City this season as the Portuguese coach led his Sporting side to a 4-1 win in the Champions League league stage before he shifted to Manchester United and beat the eight-time Premier League champions with a late comeback in December. The two sides are now set to face off again this weekend, and Amorim has revealed the secret to beating Guardiola's City.

    WHAT AMORIM SAID

Speaking to the media, Amorim said: "The secret [to beating City]? Lucky. The first game, with Sporting – we were so lucky. The first half could have been 0-4, and we won 4-1. The second game, I prefer, we won in the second half. They controlled possession a little bit more but we were there fighting with Man City. If I have to tell you one thing, it was maybe luck.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

If Amorim manages to lead his Manchester United side to a win against Manchester City this weekend, he would become only the third manager to beat Guardiola thrice in a season after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jurgen Klopp.
