Ruben Amorim insists Man Utd are 'my only club' as he reacts to Jose Mourinho's appointment at Benfica after links with two-time European champions

Amorim was thrilled to see Mourinho returning to his native Portugal for coaching after a gap of 21 years, as he heaped praise on the 61-year-old manager. The United boss also admitted that Mourinho has been an inspiration for all coaches back in Portugal.

As per A Bola, Amorim said: "He’s the best Portuguese manager, and that won’t change. He’s always been a very special person in our football, but also in the world, and he opened all the doors for us. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Jose Mourinho. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun for you in Portugal, and we’re going to enjoy it. But that’s the way it is, and we’ll be here, watching to see what happens, but focused only on Manchester, and that will be my only club."

Amorim has come under pressure after Man Utd's poor start to the 2025-26 campaign, but saw his team beat Chelsea 2-1 in a Premier League clash on Saturday to ease some of the pressure on his shoulders. Goals from Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro helped Amorim's men pick up only their second win from five games to move up to 11th in the table. 

Former Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United manager Mourinho made a winning start to his second stint at Benfica as the Portuguese giants thrashed AVS 3-0 in a Liga Portugal clash.
