McIlroy will start preparing for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans next week, so Sunday’s home game with Wolves will likely represent too quick of a turnaround. He will be competing in the Truist Championship, a signature event on the PGA Tour, when United host West Ham on May 10.
United’s Premier League finale against Aston Villa is a possibility. However, given McIlroy would quickly need to return to the States to prepare for the prestigious Memorial Tournament the following week, that too may have logistical challenges. McIlroy’s attendance could hinge on United’s progression to the last four of the Europa League and the date of the home leg.
