Lionel Messi aims cheeky World Cup jibe at Mexican fans during triumphant return to Inter Miami action for pre-season

The Florida club beat the Mexican giants on penalties following a 2-2 draw in a friendly in Las Vegas, with Messi heading in an equaliser in the first half.

During the the first half, the 37-year-old was taunted by the Club America supporters and the Argentine responded by holding up three fingers and then a zero, referencing how many times his country have won the World Cup compared to Mexico.

The preseason clash was Inter's first under new coach Javier Mascherano, who was appointed as Gerardo Martino's replacement in November. He coached Argentina at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, where they lost to France in the quarter-finals.

Messi and his Inter team-mates will continue their preparations with a match against Orlando City before facing Kansas City in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. They then kick off the new MLS campaign with a match against New York City on February 22.
