  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Arsenal's women's side returned to training after a brief winter break this week and, on her way into training, Williamson wore the jacket inspired by the kit worn by the men's 2004-05 team - comprising of the central Arsenal badge and the famous O2 sponsoring. The custom jacket used a classic Premier League font with Williamson's number six on the back and the name 'Gooner' - the nickname given to an Arsenal fan - above the number. On the right sleeve, the jacket had her initials 'LW6' written and on the left, there was the Arsenal cannon.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Williamson has been an Arsenal fan her whole life and has regularly shared photos of her watching the club as a child. She joined the club aged eight, developed in their academy and made her senior debut in 2014 before going on to become an integral member of the side. Williamson has captained the club in Kim Little's absence and signed a new multi-year deal to stay in north London.

This is not the first custom Arsenal jacket to be made by Antonia Bronze. The designer has made jackets for a number of Arsenal men's players' wives and girlfriends, including Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes and Bukayo Saka, as well as for Yasmin Bergkamp, the daughter of Arsenal legend Dennis.
