LA Galaxy ready to break the bank! MLS side set to add Genk's Joseph Paintsil for $8m while smashing transfer-record for Vasco Da Gama's $10m-rated Gabriel Pec

According to the LA Times, the Galaxy are set to smash their transfer record for Pec, who will cost a hefty sum. The 22-year-old is set to sign as a Young Designated Player after scoring eight goals and tallying four assists for Vasco da Gama in the Brazilian Serie A last campaign. The Brazilian isn't the only player they're looking at, though, with Genk and Ghana attacker Joseph Paintsil on their radar as well.

Belgian news outletHLNreports that the MLS side are looking to bolster their attack with the signing of Paintsil, who is valued at $8m. The winger is currently with the Ghanaian national team and is set to compete in the upcoming AFCON tournament with the Black Stars. The Genk winger recently played in the USA, too, but for his country in their 4-0 loss to the United States men's national team last October.

The Galaxy parted with both Chicharito Hernandez and Douglas Costa this offseason, opening up two different Designated Player contracts.

The Western Conference MLS side will look to prepare for the 2024 campaign with the upcoming preseason, with a few matches on the calendar alongside a plethora of training sessions. If they can get either Pec or Paintstil over the line, its a positive look for one of MLS's most storied clubs.
