‘Inundated with offers’ – When will Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney welcome fresh investment at Wrexham?

The Hollywood co-owners at SToK Racecourse completed a stunning takeover in the spring of 2021. Rapid progress has been enjoyed under their stewardship, with Wrexham back in the Football League and looking to push on up to the third rung of that ladder.

The National League was conquered in record-breaking style, while few bumps in the road have been hit in League Two. The challenges on offer in League One would raise the bar even higher, with the ultimate goal being to reach the Premier League at some stage.

Quizzed by BBC Sport on whether more funds will be required in order to maintain a meteoric rise, and when a further injection of cash could be received, executive director Ker said: “I don't doubt when the time comes that more investment is required. We've often talked about that transition from the bottom of the Championship to the top end would require a huge amount of money, and from there to the Premier League even more. When the time is right I am very confident they [Reynolds and McElhenney] would be inundated with offers.”

Wrexham have been freed to narrow their focus on a League Two promotion bid this season after seeing another run to the fourth round of the FA Cup brought to an abrupt halt by Championship opposition – with Blackburn dashing their dreams in 2024 some 12 months on from Sheffield United doing likewise.
