Inter Miami sent Neymar transfer ‘disaster’ warning amid talk of Brazilian superstar reforming ‘MSN’ strike partnership with Lionel Messi & Luis Suarez in MLS

Herons boss Tata Martino has been quick to play down those rumours for now, with there little room for manoeuvre within MLS salary caps. If those rules were to be relaxed, then another marquee addition in Florida may be sought.

If Neymar were to head for the United States, then he would get the chance to reform Barcelona’s fabled ‘MSN’ strike force alongside fellow South Americans Messi and Suarez. He has, however, been enduring a tough time on the injury front at Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

With that in mind, ESPN pundit Sebastian Salazar has told Futbol Americas: “From an Inter Miami perspective, when you start doing the calculations on is this a guy you bring, he’s such a big name and marketing is such a priority in MLS that maybe you can overlook this [injury record] anyway.

“But look what Al-Hilal put into this project - $80m to $100m in salary, a jet, a house, this and that, and it’s been a disaster for them. He’s hardly played, and if you’re Inter Miami, you want to avoid a disaster. It’s a risk, but if he can find fitness and play like he did before and reunite him with Suarez and Messi, you have an incredible marketing tool and maybe something that looks good on the field as well.”

Neymar savoured La Liga and Champions League glory alongside Messi and Suarez during their time together at Camp Nou. No members of that trio are getting any younger, but Inter Miami have already broken records in 2024 – while still chasing down MLS Cup glory – and would welcome the opportunity to bring another proven superstar onto their books.
