WHAT HAPPENED?
The right-back swapped LA Galaxy for Barcelona in February 2023 but to date he is yet to make a first-team appearance for the club. Now, according to Spanish publication Sport, Bournemouth want to sign the 22-year-old for a fee in the region of €9 million (£7.7m), although Barca reportedly want €10m (£8.5m).
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Mexico international, who also has one cap for the United States before making the switch, is a player Barca are reportedly keen to get off the books to free up transfer funds and wages - amid their ongoing financial struggles. The report adds a Bournemouth transfer could be finalised on Friday.
DID YOU KNOW?
Araujo was sent out on loan to fellow La Liga side Las Palmas last season, scoring two goals in 28 appearances in all competitions. The 5ft 9in player appears not to be in manager Hansi Flick's plans, so a transfer exit makes sense for all parties.
