Chelsea boss Emma Hayes gives January transfer window update as legendary coach reveals aims for final few months in charge before she joins the USWNT

Hayes has hinted that Chelsea could look to bring in reinforcements in the January transfer window. With her side still competing in four different competitions, the legendary coach has discussed what her aims are for the final five months of her Chelsea tenure before she takes charge of the USWNT.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Hayes said: "We have prepared well, but I’m not saying we won’t go into the transfer market in January with Aniek [Nouwen] being out. It might be something we look at."

On what she wants to see from her players in the second half of the campaign, Hayes said: "I’m enjoying the way we’re playing, I'm enjoying their company, and how they continue to set new standards for themselves. I look forward to building on that in the second half of the season."

Hayes' 12-year stint as Chelsea boss will come to and end this summer when she becomes the coach of the USWNT. With Chelsea top of the WSL table and among the favourites in the UEFA Women's Champions League, FA Cup and WSL League Cup, she could end her reign with a historic quadruple.

Whether or not Chelsea dip into the transfer market this month, they will in effect get one new signing. Catarina Macario hasn't played in over 18 months after suffering an ACL injury while at Lyon, but could soon make her Chelsea debut after joining the club last summer. The attacker has joined her teammates for the training camp in Morocco.

After a mid-season training camp in Morocco, Hayes and her side will turn their attention to an FA Cup meeting with West Ham on January 14 and a huge WSL clash with Manchester United a week later.
