Deadline day: Dybala, Coutinho & Premier League transfers that could happen before end of the summer window

Philippe Coutinho could be back in the Premier League in 2019, but it is not likely to be with Liverpool.

The Barcelona star has been touted as a potential signing for Manchester United and Arsenal, but it is looking like Tottenham may be the only realistic destination for him.

However, Coutinho's future is far from sorted, because any move to Spurs is dependent on what happens with Christian Eriksen.

Tottenham have cultivated a reputation for prudence when it comes to the transfer market in recent seasons, but they are in the process of smashing that perception, with Paulo Dybala potentially joining the club from Juventus.

The Serie A champions have accepted a €70 million (£65m/$78m) bid for the Argentina international - who has previously been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona - and personal terms are being hammered out.

Dybala would join another big-money signing, Tanguy Ndombele, who arrived in a £55m deal from Ligue 1 giants Lyon and, as previously mentioned, possibly Philippe Coutinho.

Christian Eriksen has made no secret of his desire for a new challenge away from Tottenham and he could well be on his way out of the club.

Having been heavily linked with Real Madrid all summer, a different destination has since appeared on the horizon, with Manchester United thought to be leading the race.

The Red Devils, who have already signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire in this window, would be forced to pay upwards of £50 million ($60m) for Eriksen according to reports.

Speculation linking Portugal international Bruno Fernandes with Manchester United has intensified in recent weeks.

The Red Devils have been left with holes to fill in midfield following the departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini, with the all-action Fernandes deemed to be an ideal candidate.

Tottenham have also been reported as keen on the midfielder, whose price tag is believed to be in the region of £55 million ($65m).

However, all parties are keeping their cards close to their chests.

"Bruno Fernandes is an important player," said Sporting coach Marcel Keizer when asked about the rumours. "Will he stay? It's not a question for me, but for the management."

As they hit a snag in their pursuit of Wilfried Zaha (more on that below), Everton have turned their attentions elsewhere, with Arsenal attacker Alex Iwobi being lined up.

Valued at £30m ($36m), Iwobi is seen as a cheaper alternative to Zaha, with Crystal Palace demanding £80m ($97m) for the Ivory Coast international.

The Toffees have placed an offer on the table for Iwobi, who is facing increased competition from the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Reiss Nelson.

It has been a frustrating summer for Romelu Lukaku, but he could be set for a fresh start in Italy, if a deal can be reached.

The Belgium international has been linked with a number of Serie A clubs, including Juventus and Napoli, but Inter now seems like the most likely destination.

Lukaku did not feature for the Red Devils during their pre-season and was recently pictured training with Anderlecht, which has done little to quell speculation that he is on his way out of Old Trafford.

Arsenal lost their club captain Laurent Koscielny to Bordeaux on the eve of the season kick-off and are in desperate need of defensive reinforcement.

Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani has been identified as one potential option and, while the Gunners have already had a bid turned down, the pursuit continues.

The initial offer was a two-year loan deal with an option to buy, but Juve will need a better offer to convince them to relinquish one of their centre-back options.

Leroy Sane played in - and limped out of - Manchester City's Community Shield triumph against Liverpool, but that is not necessarily an indication that he will remain at the club.

The Germany international has been touted as a potential Bayern Munich signing for the past few months and City are believed to be open to selling.

"I want players who want to stay. The player didn't tell me anything, that's the reality," said City boss Pep Guardiola when questioned about Sane's future at the Etihad Stadium.

"If he knocks on the door and says he wants to leave then we will speak with the club. We want him to stay here because we try to extend the contract for more than a year."

Arsenal are in the market for players who will improve their defensive solidity and one such target is Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig.

Twenty-year-old centre-back Upamecano is believed to be valued at £70 million ($85m) by the Bundesliga club, which may prove a stumbling block.

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani is the other main target, but Arsenal are seriously pondering meeting the asking price for the France Under-21 international.

Wilfried Zaha was heavily linked with Arsenal all summer, but a move to north London doesn't look like materialising any time soon.

Everton then emerged as the chief suitors for the Crystal Palace man's signature, offering £70 million ($85m) plus players for the talented winger.

Palace have rejected that bid, though, and Everton have begun exploring other options so it remains unclear what will happen.

What is certain, however, is that nothing can be ruled out when it comes to transfer deadline day.
