Crises continue to plague Al Ahly… Another shock haunts Yassine

German coach Matthias Jaissle faces a new crisis within Al-Ahli’s ranks ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash against Damac, scheduled for this coming Saturday as part of Matchday 27 of the Saudi Roshen League.

These developments come at a sensitive time, as Al-Raqi now faces the prospect of losing one of its key players ahead of the match, placing the coaching staff in a difficult position as the team seeks to maintain its positive run of form and consolidate its position in the league table.

  • Declining results

The German manager is looking to get his team back on track following setbacks in their last two matches in the league and the King’s Cup.

Before the break, Al-Ahli lost to Al-Qadisiyah (2-3) in Matchday 26 and slipped in the title race.

The crises did not end there, however, as they suffered a shocking defeat to Al-Hilal in the semi-finals of the King’s Cup, losing on penalties (2-4).

    Loss of alignment

Al-Ahly have not been spared the setbacks of the international break, with French player Valentin Atangana sustaining an injury whilst on duty with his country’s Under-21s.

Atangana sustained an injury to his leg joint last Monday following a challenge from one of his teammates during training with the France Under-21s.

The newspaper reported that the French midfielder underwent scans and medical examinations on Wednesday, which confirmed he had suffered a severe bruise to his leg, as well as a tear in the joint.

Atangana will undergo an intensive treatment and rehabilitation programme in the coming period, with his return to training to be determined based on his response to the treatment sessions.

    Another blow

The latest setback for Yassal is the confirmed absence of international right-back Ali Majrashi for the match against Damac.

The Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiah confirmed that the medical staff have put together a treatment programme for the Al-Ahli star in preparation for his return.

Majrashi is one of Al-Ahli’s key defensive assets, allowing Algerian star Riyad Mahrez the freedom to attack without having to fulfil demanding duties on the right flank.
