Marc-Andre ter Stegen is sidelined for three months and involved in a public dispute with the club, while new signing Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny, who penned a new deal after his previous one had expired, are yet to be registered for the upcoming season. As a result, Pena is the only senior goalkeeper available, forcing Barca to block a transfer as Flick called him up for the pre-season tour of Asia.
