  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fernandes has been a talismanic figure for United in recent seasons and Ruben Amorim will be desperate to keep his fellow countryman at the club as the Red Devils attempt to rebuild from a disappointing 2024/25 season. Interest has emerged from Saudi Arabia and Real Madrid, while Fernandes even told the media after defeat in the Europa League final that he was willing to leave if the club need to sell.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Fernandes contributed with eight goals and 11 assists in the Premier League last season, representing a huge 43% of the Red Devils' 44 league goals. While summer signings such as Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have offered hope of an improvement in fortunes in front of goal, Fernandes will no doubt remain a highly influential figure at Old Trafford.

WHAT NEXT FOR FERNANDES AND MAN UNITED?

Fernandes's desire to stay does not necessarily mean that Al-Nassr will stop trying to get their man, particularly if international team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo puts a word in with the 30-year-old to convince him of the move. A firm stance on their captain not being for sale would signal Amorim and United's ambitions ahead of an important season.
