Arsenal player ratings vs Liverpool: Gunners run riot against sorry Reds as Mariona Caldentey runs the show and brilliant Caitlin Foord scores in thumping victory

Arsenal ran rampant at the Emirates on Saturday, beating a hapless Liverpool side 4-0, and exacting a measure of revenge for their FA Cup exit.

The Gunners dominated possession and didn't concede a shot on target as they exerted control in a one-sided first half. Mariona Caldentey was imperious on the ball. Her curling effort, Arsenal's third goal of the game, ended the fixture as a contest before half-time.

Caitlin Foord opened the scoring halfway through the first period when she turned home a bouncing ball in the Liverpool box. A minute later, Jasmine Matthews skewed a cross past her own keeper. In a muted second half, she completed the scoring by deflecting another dangerous Arsenal pass beyond a helpless Rachael Laws in the Liverpool net.

    Goalkeeper & Defence

    Daphne van Domselaar (5/10):

Hard to rate the Dutch number one's performance considering Liverpool mustered zero shots on target. A quiet afternoon.

    Emily Fox (7/10):

Non-stop in attack, diligent in defence. An all-round showing.

    Leah Williamson (6/10):

Popped up in attacking positions in open play and at set pieces. Lovely pass to unlock Liverpool's defence for the fourth.

    Steph Cately (6/10):

Comfortable in possession, hardly stressed in defence. An accomplished, if forgettable, performance.

    Katie McCabe (6/10):

Fantastic delivery from either flank. Subbed at half time after an unnecessary booking picked up after the ref's whistle.

    Midfield

    Mariona Caldentey (9/10):

Omnipresent. Her curling effort on the stroke of half time killed any hope of a genuine contest.

    Kim Little (7/10):

Not quite as impressive as her midfield partner, but still highly influential. A potential ankle injury will be a concern.

    Frida Maanum (7/10):

A constant threat. Unlucky not to add to her personal tally after hitting both posts in the first half.

    Attack

    Caitlin Foord (8/10):

Took the opening goal well. Heavily involved in the second too. Pressed Liverpool relentlessly. A consummate nuisance.

    Alessia Russo (6/10):

Flashes of class from England's number 9, but hardly a vintage performance. One touch on a dropping ball in the first half was sumptuous.

    Chloe Kelly (6/10):

Pressed well but lacked the incision of Foord on the other wing.

    Subs & Manager

    Jenna Nighswonger (5/10):

Came on at half-time. Decent deliveries from set pieces but hardly needed to break a sweat.

    Beth Mead (6/10):

Clever run and deflected cross led to the fourth goal.

    Lia Wälti (5/10):

A comfortable cameo in the middle of the park.

    Victoria Pelova (5/10):

Came on for the imperious Caldentey. Couldn't exert the same influence, but the game was already well in hand.

    Katie Read (N/A)

No time to have an impact.

    Renee Slegers (7/10):

She can be proud of a professional performance, but little adjustment needed to be made during the game.
