  • WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

The question of what can't he do sparked some mocking and sarcastic responses from United supporters. Many simply answered "Play football" as the obvious answer.

"I want to see him cook," one fan responded. "Like cook clubs next season".

Another had a long list of things beyond the ex-Ajax star's grasp, saying: "Sing, Pass, Take on his man, Score, Assist, Be serious, Be worth the money he’s on, Be worth the money we paid for him."

United fan Alen had a list of his own, saying: "Can’t dribble, can’t use his right foot, can’t justify his 100M price, can’t be unpredictable, can’t linkup, can’t track back, can’t be good and most importantly can’t stop p*ssing off the fans."

"Can never give you a good 90mins performance without breaking your heart," said another. "He’s the only player that will make you say yourself, football isn’t this hard."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Antony endured an uninspiring season at United, in which he scored just one Premier League goal as the club finished eighth in the table. The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to let him leave in the summer transfer window and are willing to accept a much lower fee than the £86 million ($109m) they paid for him.
