FanDuel Sportsbook is offering boosted winnings on any size bet for this afternoon’s interconference NFL clash between the host Los Angeles Chargers and the visiting Washington Commanders.
One of the canniest bets in the NFL shark’s arsenal is to pick a winless team to cover against (or defeat) a winning team at a point early in the season in which bookies think they’ve got it figured out already. That was the scenario in New York last weekend, when the previously 0-3 Giants upset coach Jim Harbaugh and the L.A. Chargers 21-18, picking off QB Justin Herbert twice.
The pratfall hasn’t made Las Vegas less confident in the Chargers as a long-term futures pick. But it might have helped to tighten the point spread on today’s clash in SoCal. QB Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders are taking just (+2.5) points away from the homestanding Bolts for an interconference game set to kick off on FOX national affiliates at 4:05 p.m. Eastern Time.
Washington had its own letdown on the road last week after staking out a 2-1 start to the season. Atlanta surprised D.C. with an underrated offensive backfield of QB Michael Penix Jr. and RB Bijan Robinson, running up a 31-16 lead after three quarters and holding on for a 34-27 victory.
The Commanders, however, possess a rather good excuse for the loss. Daniels missed the weekend with a knee sprain, although the signal-caller is reportedly set to return in Week 5. You have to wonder if Washington is a great pick to cover ATS with a banged-up superstar on the road.
Herbert’s offense is a (-113) prop wager to score more than O/U (25.5) points today.
NFL fans could catch a heck of an encore when it's time for Sunday Night Football … if only the New England Patriots turn out to be a live underdog. The Buffalo Bills are (-8.5) favorites over the visiting New England Patriots in a prime-time kickoff set for NBC this evening at 8:20 p.m. Eastern Time.
QB Josh Allen and the Bills are off to a fantastic 4-0 start, leading the AFC and the NFL in several categories of offense. Tailback James Cook raced for another 119 rushing yards and a touchdown last weekend as Buffalo defeated New Orleans 31-19. The Pats are fresh off a nice win over the hapless Carolina Panthers, but QB Drake Maye is not on the same level as Buffalo’s inimitable QB.
