The UCLA Bruins (2-4) and Maryland Terrapins (4-2) collide in a Big Ten showdown this Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Rose Bowl.

Maryland burst out of the gates with a 4-0 start, though their early slate didn't offer many real challenges. Two weeks ago, they looked poised for a statement win after jumping ahead 20-0 against Washington on October 4, only to unravel down the stretch and suffer a 24-20 home loss.

UCLA, meanwhile, came out of their bye only to stumble in a 17-14 defeat at Northwestern on September 27. But everything changed a week later. On October 4, the Bruins shocked the college football world with a thrilling 42-37 upset over then-No. 7 Penn State at the Rose Bowl, breathing new life into their season.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch the UCLA vs Maryland NCAAF game, plus plenty more.

UCLA vs Maryland team news & key players

UCLA Bruins team news

For UCLA, interim head coach Tim Skipper has brought stability and clarity to UCLA’s offense, and quarterback Nico Iamaleava has flourished under the simplified approach. Iamaleava has thrown for 1,134 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions, while also leading the team in rushing with 335 yards and four scores. His 66.3% completion rate highlights just how comfortable he’s become in this system, giving the Bruins a true dual-threat leader at the helm.

UCLA is averaging 356.3 total yards and 22.8 points per game, ranking 95th and 103rd nationally, but the offense has made visible strides in recent weeks. The run game has gained traction behind Jaivian Thomas (219 yards, one TD) and Jalen Berger (167 yards, one TD), while receivers Kwazi Gilmer (313 yards, two TDs) and Titus Mokiao-Atimalala (138 yards, three TDs) provide big-play potential downfield. The Bruins are converting 39.7% of their third downs and have been nearly automatic in the red zone, ranking 17th in the nation with a 95.0% conversion rate. The offensive line has also tightened up, surrendering zero turnovers over the last three games after giving the ball away four times in the first three. If UCLA continues to protect Iamaleava and avoid self-inflicted mistakes, this offense could be a real problem down the stretch.

Maryland Terrapins team news

Maryland’s offense runs through quarterback Malik Washington, who has thrown for 1,506 yards with 10 touchdowns to just two interceptions. He’s also chipped in 45 rushing yards and three scores on the ground, completing 62.3% of his passes and averaging 251.0 yards per game. His passing game leans heavily on the reliable duo of Shaleak Knotts (367 yards, five touchdowns) and Octavian Smith Jr. (359 yards), forming the backbone of the Terrapins’ midrange attack. While Maryland averages a solid 30.2 points per game, the ground game has lacked consistency, producing just 99.3 rushing yards per contest at 3.5 yards per carry.

In the backfield, DeJuan Williams leads the charge with 245 yards and two touchdowns, while Nolan Ray has added 188 yards and two scores of his own. Tight ends Dorian Fleming and AJ Szymanski have combined for 213 yards and three touchdowns, giving Washington dependable targets in short-yardage and red zone situations. One of Maryland’s biggest obstacles has been controlling pace, they rank 124th nationally in time of possession, and they’ll need to find a way to extend drives if they want to keep the UCLA offense watching from the sideline.
