The game lit up even further immediately before the break, though, as Mings stood on the head of Ibrahimovic while he was on the ground following a tackle.

Shortly afterwards, Ibrahimovic challenged for a corner and elbowed Mings as he jumped. The pair had also been involved in another incident off the ball earlier in the game as the Swede threw Mings to the ground, yet he only received a yellow card for protesting over the penalty.

Though both players went unpunished for those moments, Surman, booked 10 minutes earlier for a foul on Luke Shaw, was given a second yellow card for a push on Ibra.
