A season that promised so much for Sevilla is threatening to finish in disappointing fashion for the Andalusians.
Their unexpected title challenge has long since ended and now the side from the south of the country are focussed on trying to maintain a place in the top four. Last weekend saw them end a six match winless run with a 4-2 home success over Deportivo La Coruna but in a performance which was nervous and far from convincing.
Manager Jorge Sampaoli is being openly courted by the Argentine FA for their national job and Sevilla are particularly displeased at this development which must have had some kind of disruption on their preparations for the game at Valencia.
Getty ImagesLos Che for their part have moved well clear of the relegation zone with three successive wins and they will be hoping to cement their place in midtable with another victory on Sunday.
Paddy Power make the hosts slight favourites at Mestalla offering Valencia at 7/5 (2.40) while Sevilla can be backed at 17/10 (2.70) and the draw is offered at 5/2 (3.50) .
Over the last few weeks Valencia have been in decent scoring form, netting three times in each of their last three matches and before that scoring twice at the Camp Nou in a 4-2 defeat last month. Sevilla meanwhile, look defensively void of confidence as shown in their last game against Deportivo where the Galicians scored twice away from home for the first time this year.
The hosts are offered at 10/11 (1.91) to score two or more goals and this bet has proved a consistent winner in league matches at Mestalla this term, paying out on 10 occasions.
Los Che have put two goals past both Real Madrid and Barcelona this season, and against a Sevilla side with a poor defensive record they should be able to continue their impressive scoring form.
