    Who will host AFCON 2023?

Ivory Coast will host AFCON 2023. The country was originally supposed to host the 2021 edition but the delay has been as a result of knock-on effect from 2019 tournament.

Cameroon were originally due to host AFCON 2019 but were stripped of being able to do so due to a delay in stadium construction and other necessary infrastructure.

The CAF instead gave Cameroon hosting rights in 2021, pushing Ivory Coast's turn back until 2023.

Why is AFCON 2023 being played in 2024?

AFCON 2023 was originally due to be the third time that the tournament would take place in the Northern Hemisphere's summer months, avoiding conflict with the top leagues in European football.
