WHAT HAPPENED?
Per reports in Argentina, from Bolavip, Villa goalkeeper Martinez is waiting to see if United make a bid for him this summer, as he prepares to leave Aston Villa. The Argentina international appeared to say his farewells to the Villa Park faithful at the end of the season, but it was unclear at the time where he was likely to end up.

Now, with Galatasaray exploring the feasibility of signing Martinez, it has emerged that the World Cup winner would rather move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils, for their part, have yet to formalise their interest, and are unlikely to do so until Andre Onana is sold.

Martinez made 53 appearances for Villa last season, keeping 16 clean sheets across all competitions. Unai Emery's side failed to qualify for the Champions League, however, as they were pipped to a top-five place by Newcastle on the final day of the season.
