  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Sporting CP striker Gyokeres has been left angered by his club's insistence on an €80 million (£67.5m) transfer fee for clubs interested in signing him this summer, according to Record. The Sweden international is one of the most in-demand forwards in Europe and Premier League sides like Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been credited with an interest.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Gyokeres was reportedly promised last summer he would able to leave Sporting for less than his €100m (£85m) release clause whenever he decided to move on. A fee of €60m (£50m) up front with €10m (£8.5m) in add-ons had been agreed with the 27-year-old as an acceptable fee which would allow him to leave, but the Portuguese champions appear to have reneged on that deal and are now asking for €80m. The decision does not appear to have gone down well with Gyokeres, who responded by removing Sporting from his Instagram bio.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Gyokeres' stunning haul of 39 league goals put him in the running for the European Golden Boot, though he was eventually pipped to the award by Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GYOKERES?

The striker looks set for a turbulent summer, with Sporting seemingly keen to extract as much cash as possible to part with their most prized asset. United are thought to have made an initial approach, but plenty more activity is expected before this saga is over.
