The Argentine appeared to suggest he is set to leave Villa at the end of the season after seemingly bidding a teary farewell at Villa Park last weekend. However, ahead of their final game of the campaign, a trip to Manchester United on Sunday, manager Emery gave a terse answer over Martinez's Villa future in an awkward and brief live TV interview.

Asked whether the United game will be Martinez's last for the Lions, Emery replied sharply: "No way!"

The TNT Sports reporter followed up by saying: "Definitely not, he's staying at the club?" Emery then added bluntly: "See you later."

Martinez has been linked with Barcelona, United, and the Saudi Pro League as the Villans reportedly need to make a big sale before June 30 to stay in line with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules. But it seems Emery does not want to lose the 32-year-old, so perhaps a team-mate of Martinez's will be sold instead.

After Villa's clash at United, the players will head off on their summer breaks. But the transfer window opens next month, so it may not be long before we find out what happens with Martinez's future.
