Victor Osimhen to 'rescue' Chelsea? Napoli star issues surprising response to fan asking him to help turn Blues' fortunes around

A X, formerly Twitter, user called O.G.B, with more than 700,000 followers, posted a photo of a young Osimhen wearing a Chelsea shirt and wished him a happy 25th birthday. He added that the forward should come and rescue the Blues soon and the Napoli ace responded with two love heart emojis and the prayer emoji.

While there may not be much in this social media interaction, it is somewhat of a surprise Osimhen is doing this after he signed a new deal with the Italian side until 2026 earlier this month. However, the Nigerian international could yet leave the club in 2024 and this move by Napoli may just be to protect themselves financially. Regardless, his actions are likely to lead to more speculation over his future.

According to reports, Osimhen now has a release clause of around €130million (£113m/$144m) and is on an annual salary of €10m (£8.6m). Moreover, the former Lille star, who scored 31 goals for Napoli last season, remains keen on an exit eventually.

Osimhen's Napoli are in Serie A action on Friday against Monza. A win could see them rise from seventh to fifth in the table if results go their way. They won the league title last season but are having a much tougher campaign this term.
