  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Liverpool defeated Bournemouth 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday, snapping Andoni Iraola's 12-match unbeaten streak across all competitions. U.S. international Tyler Adams started and logged 90 minutes during the contentious match, while the Reds Mohamed Salah scored twice to secure all three points for the league leaders.

    TheCherries had multiple opportunities to find the back of the net themselves, but some stupendous defending from Arne Slot's men helped them keep the clean sheet.

    Adams fought well in the midfield, including a moment in the first half where he was the victim of a harsh tackle that saw his lip bloodied and he was briefly removed from the match as a result. It was his fifth-straight start across all competitions, after beginning the season with inconsistency due to injuries. Bournemouth, meanwhile, were missing eight first-team players to injury for the contest.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Adams completed 83 percent of his passes on Saturday, with 66 total touches on the ball. He completed two of three attempted dribbles, while completing four passes into the final-third as well from his central midfield position.

    However, the American was 0 for 4 with long ball attempts and did not complete a single tackle against Liverpool in the midfield. More positively, Adams was one of Bournemouth's best players on the day in 1v1 battles, winning four of nine ground duels, and two of three aerial duels.

    TheReds dominated the center of the park and the final third, overloading the Cherries and Adams, making them chase the match from the opening whistle. As a result, Iraola's men and Adams struggled to get any possession whatsoever, with Liverpool furthering their lead upon the rest of the Premier League.
