  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The United States international has joint American and Italian citizenship and has opted to continue his career in his father's homeland. Como will pay an initial $2m for the forward, but add-ons could see that figure double, The Athletic reports. He has signed a three-year contract with the club.

  • WHAT GIOACCHINI SAID

    Gioacchini told the club's website: "My dad is Italian so playing in Italy has always been a dream of mine. I can’t wait to contribute to Como’s journey, aiming for promotion and, ultimately, achieving the dream of playing on the Serie A stage."

    The 23-year-old's football career started in France with Paris FC before he left to join Caen and was loaned to Montpellier. He eventually returned to the land of his birth when he signed for Orlando City in July 2022 but was drafted to St Louis City months later. He scored 10 goals in 38 MLS appearances before being snapped up by Como.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GIOACCHINI?

    The forward will hope to help Como secure promotion to Serie A. They are currently second in the Italian second tier but the likes of Cremonese and Venezia are breathing down their necks from the play-off places.
