    WHAT HAPPENED?

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has delivered a huge update on Adams, who has spent the best part of a year on the sidelines due to hamstring issues. The USMNT midfielder, who captained his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, missed the second half of last season after getting injured at Leeds, who eventually took the decision to sell him to Bournemouth in the summer transfer window. Adams made his debut for the Cherries in the Carabao Cup back in September, but then suffered a reoccurrence of the injury and was forced to undergo surgery.

    WHAT ANDONI IRAOLA SAID

Adams has spent the last four months working his way back to full fitness, and Iraola has revealed he is finally ready to take to the pitch again. “Tyler has started training with the group. In the past week he has started training quite normally. Not everything, but most of the things he does with the group," the Bournemouth boss told the Daily Echo. “Now it is a matter of taking the rhythm of his teammates. It is very possible also maybe, if everything works, he plays some minutes with the second team, because after almost one year he will need some rhythm. We will try to fit everything so he can have some minutes. From there he has to build. But he is doing really well. No pain and he is training well, so everything is going in a good direction.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Adams being back in the picture for club and country is a win for all three parties. The combative midfielder is capable of giving Bournemouth a major boost in their bid to avoid relegation, and he will also provide another option for Gregg Berhalter ahead of the USMNT's quest for glory at the 2024 Copa America.

The 25-year-old was also named to the preliminary 60-man Concacaf Nations League roster for the USMNT, which suggests he could add to his haul of 36 caps during the March international break.

WHAT NEXT FOR ADAMS AND BOURNEMOUTH?

The Cherries are currently preparing for an FA Cup clash against Leicester City on Tuesday afternoon, and if they advance, there's a good chance Adams could feature in the next round. Iraola's side will then turn their attention to a Premier League contest against Burnley at the weekend.
