'Tiny club mentality' - Arsenal fan Piers Morgan takes aim at 'humiliating' Tottenham supporters after seeing Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou pushed to the limit

Like many Arsenal supporters, Gunners fan Morgan was hoping that City would drop points at Spurs on Tuesday, only for Pep Guardiola's men to win 2-0. However, many Tottenham supporters actually wanted the defending Premier League champions to beat them in north London to deny Mikel Arteta's side from finishing top of the pile. During the match, Postecoglou was seen confronting a supporter near his dugout for allegedly saying his team should throw in the towel and now Morgan has weighed in on the matter, and in trademark fashion he has not minced his words.

He said on talkSPORT: "I feel sorry for Ange Postecoglou. This guy is Australian. They don't understand what it's like to want to lose something. They're in the middle of a massive game, where Tottenham could qualify for the Champions League, which could lead to them getting better players. But no, there was a guy behind him chanting at him to throw the match.

"Eventually, he turned round and had a go at him. How can any Tottenham fan live with themselves seeing that scene go down last night? I'm annoyed but also ashamed more than usual of Tottenham fans."

He added: "It's a tiny club mentality. They were actually dancing in celebration as City scored against them. Wearing City shirts and jumping around because that's the nearest they'll ever going to get to winning anything. It was the most humiliating, self-harming act of treachery I've ever watched. I've woken up this morning knowing what it feels like to be a Spurs fan for a day it is horrible. I've woken up with a massive headache, I've hardly had any sleep, I drank too much and I had a sense of self-loathing that only disappeared when I remembered I'm an Arsenal fan."

After the match, Postecoglou laid into the club's mentality and suggested wholesale changes are needed to get Spurs going in the right direction. He also didn't want to be drawn on chants from home fans saying, 'Are you watching Arsenal?', following Erling Haaland's opener.

"The last 48 hours have revealed that the foundations are fairly fragile. It just means I've got to go back to the drawing board with some things. It's outside (the club), inside, everywhere. It's been an interesting exercise," he said.

"I'm not interested mate. I just don't care. It's just my observations mate. I'm not going to tell you, because it's for me. I'm the one who's got to do it. You can make your own assessments of what's happened. I probably misread the situation as to what I think is important in your endeavour to become a winning team, but that's ok. That's why I'm here."

Tottenham round off their season against already-relegated Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon whereas Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates, hoping that City slip up against West Ham at the Etihad.
