  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Werner first joined Tottenham on a six-month loan deal from RB Leipzig last January and ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, he extended his stay by one more year. The German striker has been far from impressive for Spurs, managing only one goal in 26 appearances across all competitions in the current season.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Werner still has six months left in his loan spell, however, the former Chelsea forward is in talks for a transfer to Major League Soccer side the New York Red Bulls, according to Footmercato. Werner's current contract with RB Leipzig, New York's sister club, runs until June 2026 and it remains to be seen if the three clubs can find a common ground so that the forward can end his latest nightmare stint in the Premier League early.
