‘You only know when you actually do it!’ - Ruben Dias joins Erling Haaland in roasting Trent Alexander-Arnold as Man City defender makes brutal ‘actually win stuff’ dig

Prior to Sunday's crucial meeting between the two teams at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold made the provocative comment. The Liverpool player seemed to imply that under Pep Guardiola, City had bought their way to 14 major championships. Dias followed in Erling Haaland's footsteps to issue a response to Alexander-Arnold's claim.

Talking to BBC Radio, the Man City defender said: "We've won a lot in this club, especially last year with the Treble. I think it's pretty certain between us, between our fans, how much it meant to all of us. At the end of the day you can only have certain emotions if you actually win stuff. A treble is a feeling you can only know how it feels when you actually do it."

When asked if criticism is expected after the successes they've had: "I think in a club like Man City and my previous club [Benfica] our greatness will be shown in a way that these comments don't affect us. We know what we've done, we know what we've conquered, we know what we're going for in what's to come. We don't do it for anyone else, we do it for ourselves.

"Other people's success is deserved for their own achievements. What we focus on is ourselves and that's the way to move forward and that's the way to be big, a big club. Not trying to comment on other people's success and trying to make it bigger or smaller depending on how convenient it is for you."

After making it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League on Wednesday night, City are still alive and kicking in all three major competitions. Liverpool are still vying for four trophies having already won the Carabao Cup this season. The two sides are stuck in a title battle alongside Arsenal as the three sides sit just two points apart.

The two sides will meet in the highly charged affair at Anfield on Sunday, March 10. The result of the clash could prove to be very pivotal as it would effectively put either of the clubs at a three-point deficit to the others.
