  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    According to Fabrizio Romano, Firmino has agreed to join Qatari Stars League giants Al Sadd. He will leave Al Ahli after helping them lift the AFC Champions League title this summer. The Brazilian forward still had a year left in his existing deal but Al Ahli president Khaled Al-Ghamdi had earlier told Saudi media that they have an agreement with the 33-year-old that will allow him to leave the club after two years.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Doubts were raised over Firmino's long-term future at Al Ahli earlier this year when the club opted against registering him for the second half of the 2024-25 Saudi Pro League campaign. However, in the continental competition, the player had six goals and seven assists, with two of those assists coming in the final against Kawasaki Frontale.
