Roberto De Zerbi drops HUGE Tottenham transfer hint as £85m Man City raid nears

  • De Zerbi confirms more Spurs business

De Zerbi has confirmed the club are not finished in the summer transfer market. The Italian manager was speaking ahead of Spurs' 2026-27 Premier League opener away to Brentford. The London club are reportedly closing in on a sensational £85 million agreement to sign City winger Savinho. The Brazilian star is expected to become the latest high-profile addition in a major spending spree. When directly asked about the imminent arrival of Savinho and potential further additions, De Zerbi remained coy but extremely positive about the club's ongoing business.

Manager praises great summer of signings

Despite refusing to name specific targets, De Zerbi expressed his absolute delight with the club's recruitment so far. The head coach praised the character of the players brought into Hotspur Way during the off-season.

"It's not right to speak about the players until they are official," De Zerbi explained to the media. "Just to say, I'm very happy. We have not finished yet in the transfer market.

"It's an important part, I think, because so far we have had a great summer of signings - great players, great behaviour, great spirit, great personality."

  • Big names do not guarantee success

While excitement builds over the massive £85m swoop for Savinho, De Zerbi was quick to remind fans that expensive arrivals do not automatically translate to points. He stressed the immense importance of squad character. The manager firmly emphasised that his newly assembled squad must prove their true worth on the pitch.

"You know better than me in the Premier League, you don't win the game with the names, with the big players," he stated. "There are a lot of examples in the last years in the Premier League. We have to deserve to win the game and to deserve to win the game, we have to reach a high level in character, in passion, in value and in the style of play as well."

Focus shifts to Brentford season opener

With the transfer window still open, Tottenham must balance their recruitment drive with the start of the new domestic campaign.
