  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    U.S. internationals Ricardo Pepi and Malik Tillman scored all three goals as PSV rallied to defeat Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 in the UEFA Champions League Wednesday evening.

    Tillman recorded a brace, scoring a stupendous free kick in the 87th minute and a long-range effort in the 91st minute before Pepi bagged the winner in the 96th minute tapping home a close-range effort.

    With three goals in the dying stages of the contest, it was a miraculous showing from the USMNT duo, with them carrying the Dutch side to a crucial three points in the European competition.

    Pepi is in sensational goal-scoring form at the moment, leading the Eredivisie in scoring with nine goals, with Wednesday also marking his first UCL goal of the campaign. He scored a hat-trick last weekend in a 5-0 victory over FC Groningen.

    Tillman, meanwhile, has six goal-contributions in 13 regular season matches this season, while excelling in Europe. After Wednesday's match, he has five goal-contributions in five UCL appearances, with his performance spearheading the inspiration behind their comeback against Shakhtar.

    WHAT NEXT FOR PEPI, TILLMAN AND PSV?

    The American duo and the Dutch side return to action on Sunday when they take on second-place Eredivisie opposition FC Utrecht and fellow U.S. international Paxten Aaronson. PSV sit atop the standings with a five-point lead over their competitor at the weekend.
