  • WHAT HAPPENED?

At just 17 years of age, La Masia academy graduate Yamal has already rewritten the history books several times over. He made his senior debut at 15, breaking records in La Liga and the Champions League, before going on to savour Euro 2024 glory with Spain.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Yamal has already made the list of Ballon d’Or contenders and is expected to land that prestigious prize at some stage – alongside Kopa Trophy and Golden Boy honours. He has continued to star for Barca in the current campaign, with further potential being unlocked in the hottest of prospects.

  • WHAT RUDIGER SAID

Madrid defender Rudiger is prepared to put historical rivalry to one side when offering an opinion on Yamal, with the Germany international telling Inside Scoop of a Clasico foe: “You have to give credit to what he’s doing…. He’s ridiculous, ridiculous. He has an impressive future ahead of him. I hope he stays healthy because you should never wish anyone ill. The player he is for Barcelona at 17 years old, what he did in the European Championship… It’s quite scary, quite scary. He has a bright future.”

    WHAT NEXT?

Barcelona are reportedly in the process of trying to put a new contract in place with Yamal. He has offered no indication that he wants to spread his wings outside of Catalunya, with the youngster happy to continue heading down the same path that Blaugrana icon Lionel Messi once graced with such distinction.
