  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Tottenham currently sit above Manchester United in the Premier League table and enjoyed an emphatic 3-0 win over the Red Devils at Old Trafford earlier this season. All of which has led some fans to claim Spurs are now superior to United during a video call with Pogba. However, the former United star was quick to defend his former team-mates and pointed out how the club have still picked up silverware in recent seasons, despite their troubles, while the Tottenham trophy cabinet remains empty in modern times.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

United's last Premier League triumph came back in 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson but the club have struggled to challenge for the very biggest honours since the legendary Scot stepped down. A succession of managers have tried their luck with Pogba winning Europa League and League Cup titles during Jose Mourinho's time charge at Old Trafford, while Louis van Gaal bagged an FA Cup and Ten Hag won the League Cup and FA Cup before being sacked and replaced by Ruben Amorim. In contrast, Tottenham's last trophy win came in the League Cup in 2008, and they have not been crowned champions of England since winning the double in 1961.

    WHAT NEXT

Tottenham are also currently six points clear of United in the Europa League standings. Spurs are back in action on Thursday at Galatasaray, while United host PAOK at Old Trafford. As for Pogba, he is set to resume his career in 2025 after seeing his doping ban reduced.
