  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Mullin, who was snapped up by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in the summer of 2021, has become a modern day legend at SToK Racecourse. He has claimed Player of the Year honours in each of his three seasons in North Wales, helping the Red Dragons to back-to-back promotions.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 30-year-old frontman has registered over 100 goals for Wrexham, becoming a firm favourite among fans and Hollywood co-owners, but has found the target on just three occasions through 14 appearances this term – with only one of those efforts being recorded in the league.

  • WHAT PALMER SAID

Former EFL player and coach, Carlton Palmer, has told Football League World why the Red Dragons may need to find another upgrade in the final third: "Paul Mullin, Wrexham's striker, in 11 appearances this season has only scored one goal. He's been prolific, as we've seen before... but he's untested at League One level.

"I think they'll probably have to look past Paul Mullin with all due respect. Looking at his history, he's not prolific in League One. If they want someone prolific they would have to go out and get somebody who scores goals in League One and I think they will in January.

"It's very, very tight in those play-off spots, Bolton Wanderers 23 points, Lincoln City 24, Mansfield Town 24, Wrexham 25. They will need somebody who can score goals, but given two successive promotions, they're going along great at the moment. It is a worry that Paul Mullin does not score goals at League One level."

    WHAT NEXT FOR MULLIN?

Mullin has only previously spent half a season in League One, while on the books at Tranmere in 2019-20. He hit just three goals through 20 games back then, before going on to prove his worth in the fourth tier and across the National League when linking up with Wrexham.
