Speaking to the Daily Star, the Wrexham co-owner claimed he'd watched the goal that sealed Wrexham's promotion from League One, scored by Sam Smith against Charlton, dozens of times. The north Wales-based club made history by achieving three successive automatic promotions, and Reynolds is still basking in the joy of the 3-0 win over Charlton in their penultimate game of the season.

Wrexham are making light work of their advance up the English football pyramid. Promotion from League One to the Championship has proved an extremely difficult task for similarly well-supported clubs like Portsmouth and Sunderland in recent years, but Reynolds and McElhenney's club have smashed through that barrier, becoming the first club in England's top five divisions to earn three successive promotions.

Reynolds said: “I have not required an adult diaper yet. I think I’ve watched Sam Smith’s martial arts/judo kick maybe 50, 60, 70 times. It’s my version of a gigantic pile of cocaine. I’m just sitting there, watching that over and over and over again and enjoying every second of it. It is remarkable.”

Wrexham's rise through the leagues has been seriously impressive, but achieving promotion from the Championship to the Premier League will be another matter entirely. The level of wealth held by clubs towards the top of the second tier massively outstrips that of even Hollywood-owned Wrexham, and it remains to be seen how much more money Reynolds and McElhenney will pump in for summer transfers.
