WHAT HAPPENED?
WHAT POCHETTINO SAID
Speaking after the game, Pochettino said: "[Palmer] scored twice and he is a good example for the rest. From day one, he took responsibility for penalties, for the game. When you see the team struggles to find solutions, they give the ball to him to solve."
GettyTHE BIGGER PICTURE
Palmer has scored 16 times and provided 12 assists across all competitions this season, registering goal involvements in 28 of his 35 appearances since arriving in September. Raheem Sterling is next on 19, with Nicolas Jackson is third on 16, but Palmer is the only player to hit double figures in both goals and assists this term.
DID YOU KNOW?
Prior to joining Chelsea, Palmer had scored only six goals in his entire senior career. He matched that tally with his sixth goal for the Blues in only his 16th game and has since far exceeded it.
GettyWHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA?
Chelsea are unbeaten in five league games since February 4 but are still stuck in the bottom half of the table. There is an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City to look forward to on April 20, but avoiding a second straight bottom half finish for the first time in the Premier League era is a must. Next up is the visit of Manchester United on Thursday evening, followed by a trip to Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon.
