    THE EXPLANATION

Greenwood feels that having both his parents in the same country with him may allow them to reconcile any marriage problems they have. The Sun's report states that the forced separation when Greenwood moved to Spain made the marriage trickier.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The player may not have much of a choice in where he can go after his loan spell at Getafe expires. The player was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in 2022 but the case was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023. It is unclear whether United would play him ever again or if any club in England would choose to sign the player, although new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe has seemingly opened the door to his return.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GREENWOOD?

Greenwood continues to feature for Getafe and will see out the rest of the season in Spain. Where he plays football next season will be dependent on United's decision. La Liga president, Javier Tebas, recently said he 'does not care about the forward’s past' and would welcome Greenwood's permanent transfer to the league.
