Man Utd in surprise talks to sign free agent amid interest from AC Milan & Inter

The ex-Real Madrid youth player spent five seasons at Atletico before leaving them as a free agent at the end of the 2023/24 season. Now Fabrizio Romano reports that the Red Devils are considering approaching the 29-year-old and could sign him for free ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.

Romano, however, adds that United's priority remains to secure the signature of Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui as they are all set to part ways with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is on his way to join West Ham. Sky Sports reported on Friday that the Premier League club are expected to seal a move for the Moroccan by the end of August.

Hermoso predominantly plays as a central defender, however, he can also be deployed as a left-back. Last season, the player appeared in 45 matches across all competitions where he scored twice and provided as many assists.

Erik ten Hag's side will play their first competitive match of the new season on Saturday as they take on reigning English champions and rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.
