More bad news for Liverpool! Virgil van Dijk weighing up mammoth €20m contract offer from Saudi Pro League's Al-Hilal as Reds deal ticks down

Less than a day after Liverpool's Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain, L'Equipe reports Van Dijk, who is out of contract this summer, is mulling over the €20 million (£16.8m/$21.7) offer but is yet to give a response as he is focusing on the final stretch of this season with the Reds.

The 33-year-old shocked many when he said there has been no progress over Liverpool contract talks and anyone who said an extension was close is "lying". Losing the towering centre-back, who has been in superb form this term, would be a huge blow for Arne Slot's men for next season and beyond.

The report adds that Al-Hilal also put forward a proposal to Barcelona captain Raphinha to bring him to the Saudi Pro League, but the 28-year-old - who is in red-hot form himself - turned it down.

Aside from Van Dijk's future, the Dutch international will hope to secure Liverpool another Carabao Cup triumph when they take on Newcastle United at Wembley on Sunday.
