Liverpool's Premier League opener with Bournemouth delayed during first-half as Antoine Semenyo reports alleged racist abuse from Anfield crowd

Midway through the first-half, Semenyo spoke to referee Taylor and the game was temporarily paused, with the midfielder having reported an alleged incident of racist abuse from the crowd. 

The game at Anfield began with emotional tributes to the late Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva after their tragic deaths, but the incident of abuse will cast another shadow over a game that was meant to signal the start of a new season and a potential new era for the Reds. 

Semenyo signed a new contract earlier this summer as he signalled his intent to stay at Bournemouth amid rival interest from Manchester United and Tottenham. He was also briefly linked with a move to Liverpool. 

Semenyo will next be in action when Bournemouth face Wolves next weekend. Liverpool face Newcastle in their next Premier League outing.
