  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    During the Premier League clash between rivals Liverpool and Manchester United on Sunday under adverse weather conditions, footage emerged on social media of the Anfield roof leaking over one of the stands. It immediately caught the attention of rivals who mercilessly mocked the Reds and compared the condition of their home to that of Old Trafford.

  • WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

    Rival fans took to X to share the leakage footage as they took a dig at the Premier League leaders over their crumbling infrastructure.

    beIN Sports presenter Andy Kerr wrote: "The leaking roof at Anfield, making Manchester United feel at home!!"

    A United fan, with the X handle LaurenMUFC, wrote: "How much did the Anfield Road redevelopment cost? £100mil or something? And it leaks like this but I thought Old Trafford was falling down with a leaky roof and a disgrace?"

    An Everton fan named Lea joined the bandwagon as he wrote: "Anfield leaking while Everton move to a brand new stadium in a few months time. What a time to be alive."

    A fan named Vochey wrote: "Anfield leaking like a tap! Isn't that supposed to be their new stand?"

    An X handle named Football Hub drew comparisons with Old Trafford as the post read: "Anfield is leaking in tribute to Old Trafford! Touch of class."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    The Red Devils unexpectedly held the league leaders to a 2-2 draw and had even taken the lead in the second half through Lisandro Martinez's strike. Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah then put the hosts in front before Amad Diallo netted the equaliser in the 80th minute. The draw helped them to climb up to the 13th position on the league table, while the Reds continue to enjoy a six-point lead at the top of the table with a game in hand over Arsenal.
