Liverpool closing in on Mohamed Salah AND Virgil van Dijk contract renewals to finally bring an end to long-running saga

The Egypt star is close to an agreement with the Reds over an extension, the Daily Mail reports, with a two-year deal expected to be announced. Van Dijk, meanwhile, said recently that "progress" has been made in talks with the Premier League leaders and is expected to commit his future to the club.

The news suggests an imminent end to months of speculation about the duo. Salah hinted that he would leave the club when his current contract expires at the end of the season amid talk of a lucrative deal awaiting him in Saudi Arabia. The Anfield side were also in danger of losing star centre-back Van Dijk in a free transfer, but he appears to be on track to agree to stay.

Salah is the runaway leader in both the Premier League's goals and assists charts, having netted 27 times and set up a further 17 in 31 appearances.

The Merseyside team will hope to have Salah and Van Dijk's contracts wrapped up soon as they close in on the Premier League title. They host West Ham in their next match on Sunday.
